In this presentation, Professor Alan Benson (University of Minnesota) will discuss how he and other researchers are working with companies to study the implications of gender bias in hiring, advancement, and pay.


Alan Benson

Associate Professor and Academic Director at Carlson School of Management

Alan Benson is an Associate Professor in the Work and Organizations Group at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, where he serves as Academic Director of the Masters of HRIR, and has taught compensation and benefits since 2014. He is also editor at the Industrial and Labor Relations Review and Organization Science. As a personnel economists, he conducts research on hiring, promotions, performance evaluation, and compensation in collaboration with companies and HR software providers. He received his PhD from MIT Sloan School of Management and his BS from Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
